Former WAVY weather anchor Jon Cash speaks to NewsChannel 3 | News
Ex-WAVY meteorologist Jon Cash is breaking his silence. Today he was on two local radio stations and NewsChannel 3 was there as he addressed rumors.
For the first time since his dismissal from WAVY, Jon is clearing the air.
As a guest on the Christian radio station, "The Current," he squashed rumors that he was forced to leave the station because of a conflict between work and his own religious organization, The Jon Cash Ministry.
He also said his firing had nothing to do with expressing his religious beliefs on air.
"I never talked about my faith on the air. At least, I can never remember that. I was always the type of person who would never do that," Jon says.
What Cash still wouldn't answer is what everyone wants to know. Why was he fired?
He says, "I want to tell everyone everything and let the chips fall where they may but there are people who are a lot smarter than me that say this is what you do and this is what you don't do."
Instead, Cash says he is focused on working with his ministry full-time.
"I'm happy. I have no unforgiveness. I have no anger for anything like that, and I miss them. I am happy. I'm happy where I am," he says.
We asked Jon whether he had hired a lawyer and he said he could not comment.
That's been the response from WAVY as well. WAVY's management will not confirm that Cash has been fired. They'll only say he's no longer with the station.
It's generally known that if a company comments on personnel matters, they are vulnerable to expensive lawsuits.
